So you do have a case to do it , but the default IXmlserializable will not do it . You really have to write your own in which case why not just create your own streams

I bet the the default will just stream the whole thing into a big memory and hence use twice the memory .

Sorry Ben, I don't quite understand your question. You can certainly send a Stream, as long as you set the transferMode to "Streamed" on the transport binding element. That way you don't have to use twice the memory.
