After having installed the linq preview on a clean installation of vs2005 intellisense was not working. This was due to some registry keys pointing to the wrong paths in the filesystem: HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\LINQ Preview\VCSIDEDIR and
HLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\LINQ Preview\VCSPKGDIR where both pointing to C:\Program Files\LINQ Preview\" which doesn't seem right. After having changed them to point to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\ and C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC#\VCSPackages\ intellisense works fine for me.

doh, i was hoping this would fix my intellisense problem, but my registry entries are already correct.

Did you run the "Install C# IDE Support.vbs" script I forgot to mention that if you ran "Install C# IDE Support.vbs" with the wrong registry settings then you have to run "Uninstall C# IDE Support.vbs" before fixing the registry entries and then run "Install C# IDE Support.vbs" again afterwards. The scripts are located in C:\Program Files\LINQ Preview\Bin.

hi michael. i have run the install script, and it didn't seem to change anything. intellisense works at a basic level, but it isn't nearly as good as before i installed all the linq stuff. it doesn't autocomplete types when you type in 'new' etc, i think i read somewhere that this was to do with the new 'var' keyword. it's not much of a problem really, just a little more typing than usual.

thanks

The intellisense support in the CTP is also at what you can call a prototype level. You can expect better support as new previews are released.
