Hi all,

After installing the Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for WCF and WPF, I've noticed that you can conveniently add a service to your project. However, I couldn't find any way to generate the proxy client from inside VS. The only way I could do that was to use svcutil.exe in the command line. Am I missing something

Thanks in advance.

I know this is not really related to your issue, but does anybody know if the extensions for WCF and WPF will be released soon, I can only find the extensions for the WWF that are out of beta.

Thanks

This was announced in our November CTP post here:

This November CTP is the last planned release of Cider as an extension to Visual Studio 2005. Future CTPs of Cider will be available in the preview releases of the next full version of Visual Studio which is currently code named "Orcas".

It seems like lots of people want to develop wcf/wpf but are leery of doing so (production code w/betas/ctp's) , given that the 'final' versions of the extensions are never to be released for vs2k5. So now we have to wait for vs2k7(8) ...

Yes, unfortunately we will be releasing the support in VS with the Orcas release.

Hi Gustavo,

I had the same issue, and found a workaround to have a one-time proxy generation. Unfortunately if I change the contract, the proxy is not automatically re-generated.

My workaround is actually the documented way to do this:
1) add a web site to your solution and select the WCF Service template. Add a reference to your Service project and update your web.config appropriately, and
2) In your client project select "Add Service Reference" and browse to your URI.

Still a lot of manual steps and no automatic re-generation in these procedures though....
