Hi Powers.

There are no restrictions in using Flash content for gadgets submitted to Windows Live Gallery.

Was the Flash file included in the gadget zip archive

Thanks.

The flash file contains dynamic content and needs to be loaded from the remote server. I can't include it in the zip archive. I didn't mean to imply local flash files weren't supported, but ask if there is any way to write object tags with remote source in gallery gadgets

Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Powers.

If you want to use dynamic content, I would recommend using a feed that the Flash module consumes and parses. However, you can achieve a similar mechanism if you use an iframe to reference the Flash as well.

Thanks.

So let me make sure I understand you. If I replace the

this.initialize = function(p_objScope)
{
...
m_el.innerHTML = '<object ...><param name="movie" value="example.com/my.swf"> </param></object>';

}

with

this.initialize = function(p_objScope)
{
...
m_el.innerHTML = '<iframe src="example.com/my.html"></iframe>';
}

Where the html loaded by the iframe includes the flash, then the gadget will pass the gallery validator

Thanks again for the quick reply.

Hi Powers.

There is a thread that gives a sample of using an iframe here:

I'd be interested in hearing the results of this. I am attempting to do the same thing.
