    - Iframe in a Gadget Ok, so this is driving me crazy. What we had planed on doing is creating two widgets one for live.com and one for the Vista SideBar. We have a search service that we host. The plan was to create simple little gadgets for live.com and sidebar that are iframes to mini search forms on our site. There is a few search type that the user can do. So on our side(in the iframe) we have a page with a nav that has the different search types. When the user clicks on the search type(a normal link) it will take them to that form in the iframe. This works great on live.com. Now that I have started with the vista gadget I have a problem. After reading this( http://microsoftgadgets.com/forums/8708/ShowPost.aspx ), it seems that ANY LINK of any sort will open in a brand new window even if that link is not in the gadget but in the iframe content. I need those links to open in the current iframe. Anyone know how to do this btw, the reason Im not posting this on microsoftgadgets.com is because I have no idea how to post a message on that forum. I'm not interested much to talk about where is the problem in my space.. all my gadget are affected by it. All the people of interest: u can directly try my space (the url is in my profile) to test the problem/the solution. The impressive thing is that it seems that I just reload the url pointing to start.com with the gadget parameters..in the gadget *webpart*.. to get the gadget rendered well. Hope this helps.     - How to use icon indexes > 0 with gimage: protocol I am making an application launcher gadget and in some circumstances using gimage: protocol to display an icon from a shortcut. Some of the shortcuts use external .ico files on disk instead of icons defined in their target file. Using gimage: works fine like this when there is only one icon in the .ico file; it retrieves the default icon (index 0) - all I have to do is strip off the ",0" from the iconLocation property string after obtaining it from the shortcut object. The problem occurs when the shortcut uses a .ico file that contains more than one icon and uses an icon in the file other than the one at index zero. Indeed, if the string supplied to the gimage: protocol includes an icon index specification (comma then number), even ",0", then it doesn't work- the displayed graphic is the red "x" in a white box, just as you would see on any web site for an unlocated image.     - Knowing when a form has finished loading I need to overlay another application on top of a form. I show the form and then launch the application. I can only do this once the form has finished loading, so I cannot use the load event of the form. Is there any definitive way of knowing that a form has finished loading I could use a timer to wait until the form has finished loading, but that introduces an element of unpredictability into the proceedings.     - OTA Provisioning Message To send a WAP provisioning message to a WM5 device, the WBXML message is signed with the IMSI of the target phone, and the WAP signed message policy must be enabled on the device. Given these, Im able to provision lots of different WM5 phones no problem. The only device I have an issue with is the Samsung i320. The message arrives on the device, but seems to be rejected by the security layer. Strangely, if you get the IMSI from the device using the TAPI API, it comes back as <IMSI>:234764675643659 That is it includes the <IMSI>: part, not just the number as on all other WM5 devices. So I assume the security layer in the push handler tries to check the hash, using the imsi in the above format, not just the number and it fails.     - Key Guard in wm5 smartphone with vb2005 Hello, I'm trying to create a program that will lock the keypad, and prevent accedental key presses, while displaying a large clock on the screen. I would like the program to use the standard backlight settings for when a program is not running. I have a semi-working program, but it allows keys to be pressed, causing programs to launch in the background of my program, and calls can be made. The backlight stays on constantly, but I think that could be fixed by taking the enabled property away from it. Any ideas would be appreciated, with reguards to how to make my program take all key entery, and essentially discard that data, and to allow the screen to turn off, but be brought back on with a key press of a specific key (Spacebar, back, or enter).     - FakeGPS won't run on WM6 German After installing FakeGPS on my Xda Orbit featuring a German localization of Windows Mobile 6, FakeGPS complains that it cannot find its NMEA files because it looks under "Program Files"....however it is installed and launches properly from "Programme" (as it is supposed to be on a German localisation). As a workaround I tried to create a "Program Files" folder, and copy the FakeGPS folder there. Now after setting a NMEA file and clicking done, I have no feedback as to what it is doing. Trying the GPS SampleApp I get no simulated data from it, but real data kicks in as soon as I hold it out of my window...     - using two icons for application and shortcut? Hi, I have created CAB for my application with many shortcuts in different locations. Actually my problem starts with my Application Icon. When I run CAB in Emulator no problem occurs. But when I try it on real device the problem comes. Actually the Icons which is displayed in Strat--> Programs properly. but the icons which are placed in start, and in my application folder appear only 25% of the icon. Yes, we recently did a small update requiring this going forward so that people that are downloading items can get a verified name if available (and valid). We looked at all content on the site and it should affect a small number of publishers. If you (or anyone else) doesn't want to get a full certificate you can simply re-submit the item as unsigned and it will retain the same download count, ratings and reviews. I am trying to embed an mp3 file into a gadget and then play it using a windows media player.
it seems to be not loading the file. when i context-click on the media player i get:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:").

the protocol, of course, is x-gadget://

can anyone recommend how i might be able to accomplish this

You shouldn't need to specify a protocol for a file. Just the file with the full pathname should do the trick.

clarification: i did not supply a protocol on the url parameter in the embedded object. i simply put the path to the filename within the gadget assembly, the same as i would for the src attribute on an <img> tag or a <script> tag.

the x-gadget:// protocol appears when i right-click on the WMP control and select properties.

Sorry, didn't realise you were using .url

Try "file://". If that doesn't work, create a playlist and add your media to it. I'll show you how to do this if you "file://" doesn't work.
