    - Combo Box display mbr Working on my first PPC project with VS2005/WM 5/SQL mobile. Problem is that a combo box insists on displaying Value member rather than Display member. Another similar combobox works fine. I found that when the field type of the Primary key is numeric, Combox or list box is not an option in the drop down control type selection in data sources. So I have changed it temporarily to String and then Combo is an option. I recreated the Control but it still shows Value not Display member.     - bitmap deploy on emulator alongwith exe hi all i want to make cards game for PDA,i m using images of cards, i m placing images in a folder and showing them at runtime on form. it works fine on windows application but gives "IOexception" exception on emulator i think it is not moving the images with exe that is why this exception comes,i mean did not find file on location and ioexception is raised.i m using the current path for the image like bmp = new Bitmap ( "../images/S1.png" );// new Bitmap ( "S1.png" ); also tried but failed _Image = Image .FromHbitmap(bmp.GetHbitmap()); then drawimage is called. i have also viewed on emulator where exe was present there were not images folder not single image. my question is how to deploy images alongwith exe so that it images folder is also deployed alongwith exe, or it will not deploy images and i had to give path like c:\\.images etc Thanks in advance.     - Device Power Off Event I am currently using the Compact Framework 2.0 on a Pocket PC 2003 device and there is a setting in start>settings>system>power>advanced called "Turn off device of not used for x minutes." I am curious if there is a way to catch this event so that I might be able to shut down my threads that are dependant on my 802.11x and then Turn Off. Currently what is happening is that I might have a thread in the middle of an HTTP Post when the device powers off and this is not good. Any ideas would be helpfull. Is there any reason why I shouldn't just embed a modified web page 2.     - CreateWindow and WM_ACTIVATE syncronization? Hello I noticed that after calling CreateWindow a message is dispatched to WM_ACTIVATE. My question is if there is any way using the SDK to determine if this is the first time WM_ACTIVATE is being called or not. My problem is that I have data that needs to be initialized in order for WM_ACTIVATE to work properly and this is not the case when WM_ACTIVATE is triggered by CreateWindow. The solution I have today uses a boolean flag to check for first occurrence but my question is if this would be possible to solve using a SDK function.     - Debugging WinCE 5 apps not working I'm trying to debug a Compact Framework 2.0 app on a Windows CE 5 device from VS2005 sp1. I assumed this should just work out of the box. When I set a breakpoint in the CF app, deploy and start debug the breakpoint indicates it wont be hit. The little exclamation point icon on the breakpoint indicates 'the specified module has not been loaded'. Any idea what is causing this The app deploys and runs fine on the device but I cannot debug.     - Web service via a proxy server I have an application written in C# using .Net CF 2.0 which consumes a web service which sits on one of my servers. My device is running WM5 and the dev env is Visual Studio 2005. In the code, I create the web service, check there's a valid internet connection like this: ... req = ((HttpWebRequest)(WebRequest.Create(" http://www.microsoft.com "))); res = ((HttpWebResponse)(req.GetResponse())); if(res.StatusCode == HttpStatusCode.OK) return true; ... and then invoke a method on the webservice. This all works fine with the device cradled until I change my network settings to go via a proxy server. The PPC seems to pick up these proxy settings after a reset and I can see the web service via IE on the device. However, when I run the code it fails as soon as I try to invoke a method on the web service. The calls to the WebRequest used to check the internet connection still succeeds, but the webservice calls fail. The exception's HResult is -2146233079 and the _message is "WebException", there is no innerexception. I've tried setting the following just before I create the webservice: System.Net.GlobalProxySelection.Select = new System.Net.WebProxy(" http://192.168.x.x:6588 "); and I also set the following when I create the webservice: cws.Proxy = new System.Net.WebProxy(" http://192.168.x.x:6588 "); both of which are using the correct IP and port number. but this has no effect. I'm assuming that if the internet connection is fine in the app then I shouldn't need to make these calls anyway. I also assume that I'd only need to set the System.Net.GlobalProxySelection.Select and all subsequence web requests would then use these setting so there'd be no need to specify the proxy when I create the web service.     - radio form buttons? simplest way to do this settings box does this: 2 radio buttons so that you either select optionA or optionB on click OK settings are saved Gadget does this: upon closing of settings dialog box gadget updates to the settings you entered via funtions such as function optionCheck() { IF OptionA == "true" do this { some more stuff } Else { do this instead } } basically what I would like to do is have the settings dialog box open with 2 radio button options which are then saved so that I can then have the gadget can a function that checks the settings and changes itself accordingly.     - Question on removing InstallDir from [CEStrings] section of INF file Regarding a CAB file installation - I have read over-and-over on how to avoid being prompted to install to different storage locations on a mobile device by simply removing the InstallDir line from the [CEStrings] section, and hard-coding the location in the [DestinationDirs] section of the INF file. There's even an MSDN Library article mentioning it dated as late as 04/10/2007 titled "User Selected Installation" at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa924404.aspx This does NOT work. It ALWAYS results in the following error ...     - Redistribution of .net framework 2.0 I have created a *.cab file for my pocketpc application. I have also successfully created a *.msi installer for the use of installing the application from a desktop pc and then via active sync it installs the app onto my smartphone. This all works perfectly! I have one problem, i want the *.msi to check to see what version of framework is currently installed on the smartphone. If version 2.0 is not installed, I would like the *.msi to install framework 2.0 onto the smartphone, so the user does not have to go to microsoft's website, download the files and install it.     - Cannot connect to web service on my local machine... HI, I am sure there is something minor I am missing but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to connect to a web service that I have created in my local iis. I have created a basic web service and it is running under iis. I can connect to it no problem if I create a console application and add a web referenec. I have created a Windows mobile pocket pc project and cannot connect to the web service. I can connect to the internet through the device emulator. I cannot browse to the web service or anything else on my local machine.     - Webservice GPRS Connection Hi Guys, I know that by calling a webservice, the connection is automatically setup. Is it possible to force the call to use a specific connection, one that has been setup using the connection manager I would like to be able to control the connection and to close it after use. I have tried using connection manager to first set up a connection and then close it, but it seems that the call to use the webservice creates another connection.     - Out of memory exception on WinCE5.0 Hi world, I've a problem related of lack of memory. Running application the memory is OK. When I start to navigate inside the forms the momory continue increasing and an error "Out of memory" is generated. I thought the problem was the "not disposed bitmaps" so, when I close the forms I'm disposing all the bitmap used but the problem have not solved. In the application I use many System.Windows.Forms.Timer.     - Battery Backup Hi all, I know about the function to retrieve the GetSystemPowerStatus() using pinvoke function to retrieve the status of the current battery level, as low, high, etc. In the same way the Compact framework provides a class to perform this operations called SystemState.PowerBatteryStrength.     - Listbox not responding properly to two subsequent clicks Please help me! I haven't found anything regarding this problem on the internet. If you are using a listbox in .NET compact (only true for compact!) you'll notice sort of a delay between two subsequent clicks selecting different items. The selection does not update if you do this too fast - the click event gets lost. It's really awful having to wait between to clicks! The problem also is showing up with listviews in detail view. How can you avoid this behavior Note that it's not an performance issue since there are only 3 items in the listbox. Try it with the emulator by creating a project, putting a listbox in the form and hit run. Then select an item in the listbox and almost instantly switch to an other one (that is a common practice in case you hit the wrong item at first).     - resize the gadgets by default hi everybody, I have some problems whith te size of the gadgets....when i make a test on the http://test.livegadgets.net/ platform, everythingh is ok with the size, the gadget is full screened showed. But when the gadget is approuved, and is loaded in my space for a real test, it sometimes sized ok, and sometimes cut so the height is truncated.     - how to load dll file in smartphone? Hi all, I'm using C# to write the windows mobile 2003 application and deployed on the smartphone. I used the method [DllImport ("vam.dll")] public extern void detect(string xmlFile, string imgName); to import the dll into the application "Debug" folder. i call the dll funcion using detect("xmlFile", myImage); My application is to detect the region on the image file automatically on the desktop and it runs successfully on the desktop version. Now, i have to migrate my existing automatic detecion of region on desktop to the smartphone. I using the same method mentioned above, there is no compile error found. But, when i run on the smartphone, I get the error while running. The error is "NotSupported" Is it due to the dll problem If i remove the line where i call the dll function, it works fine. I've put the dll in the same folder of the application folder in smartphone. I cannot put the dll in CAB file. Hi,

.NETCF does not support cookies (System.Net.Cookie) .
And you should get the cookies from the HttpWebResponse instance returned by GetResponse().
