    - Webservice GPRS Connection Hi Guys, I know that by calling a webservice, the connection is automatically setup. Is it possible to force the call to use a specific connection, one that has been setup using the connection manager I would like to be able to control the connection and to close it after use. I have tried using connection manager to first set up a connection and then close it, but it seems that the call to use the webservice creates another connection.     - Out of memory exception on WinCE5.0 Hi My experience is that you need to call GC.Collect() at appropriate times in your application. You shouldn't call it in a tight loop, but in close events and at the end of doing things. You really need hosting to do it, with or without native wrapper and hosting is not supported. At best you can launch managed application in a separate process.     - Battery Backup Well actually I'm working right nowm with the Recon TDS, where is available info in www.tdsway.com , and for example this device, has a backup battery, which, provides the backup power when the primary battery is empty, or something like that. Really the backup battery, no all devices have it, for example I'm work for multimedia matter with the Palm TREo, w750, which has Windows Mobile 5, camera, etc, and this smartphone does not have, a backup battery source. But the Recon does. I'm was wondering of there is any way to query the native S.O. to ask about the possible presence of it, like using pinvoke . I perform an action, when the power is comming down, and if the device has a backup battery at least we have more time. I do not think it is a very hard issues, but I hope find something.     - Listbox not responding properly to two subsequent clicks Please help me! I haven't found anything regarding this problem on the internet. If you are using a listbox in .NET compact (only true for compact!) you'll notice sort of a delay between two subsequent clicks selecting different items. The selection does not update if you do this too fast - the click event gets lost. It's really awful having to wait between to clicks! The problem also is showing up with listviews in detail view. How can you avoid this behavior Note that it's not an performance issue since there are only 3 items in the listbox. Try it with the emulator by creating a project, putting a listbox in the form and hit run. Then select an item in the listbox and almost instantly switch to an other one (that is a common practice in case you hit the wrong item at first).     - resize the gadgets by default In theory, you shouldn't need the resize() command at all. That's just a hint to the framework to manually look for any size changes in the embedded iframe and adjust the frame size appropriately. The framework should already that itself when it can (IE6/7), and will ignore it when it can't (Firefox, Opera), so calling it yourself is really just a placebo affect 9 times out of 10. It makes you feel good, like you proactively did something about your resizing gadget, but in actuality the frame was probably already correct sized well before you made the call to resize() (and if not, it would be correctly sized soon anyway).     - VB.NET WM 5 Alpha Blend function won't draw I am trying to use the WM5 AlphaBlend() function to add transparency to an image. To create a WM 2003 DLL project, follow the steps described here: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/fbc0yasf(VS.80).aspx As template select 'Win32 Smart Device project'. In the platform selection dialog, select the WM 2003 SDKs (Pocket PC and/or Smartphone) you want to support. In the next dialog, select DLL and check the 'Export symbols' checkbox. Once the the wizard completed creating the project, add all Mathlab generated C++ source files. Now try to build the DLL project. If you get warnings or errors, try to fix em.     - submission rejection: "vulnerable to malicious attacks" As far as I'm aware, there is no definate guidelines for Sidebar Gadget developers from MS as to what is a valid or invalid Gadget. MS have never published their approval guidelines outside of their own team. MS's legal guide, does contain some rejection reasons however: "Your Submission does not violate or facilitate the violation of any rights of Microsoft or any third party arising under contract law or otherwise. You will not contribute a Submission for any purpose that is unlawful, offensive, defamatory, libelous, racist or of an obscene, threatening or menacing character, or prohibited by this addendum or the terms of use." "Your Submission does not contain any Prohibited Code. “Prohibited Code” means software code of any kind that (i) is potentially harmful to or could compromise a user’s system, software data, security or privacy; (ii) without the user’s express knowledge and consent, interferes with the operation of applications; (iii) launches or causes other similar code or applications similar to the foregoing to launch; (iv) is obscured or resistant to removal; (v) without the user’s express knowledge and consent, removes or disables security, anti-spyware or anti-virus technology; (vi) without the user’s express knowledge and consent, displays advertisements, unless they are promoting an alternative version of the software (e.g., an update or upsell); or (vii) without the user’s express knowledge and consent, collects or shares personal information, changes file associations, adds browser toolbars or changes browser settings such as the user’s favorites, default home page or search provider." There are clearly reasons beyond these that cause rejection, the only ones we've seen so far are: 1. "There was a problem and we need to ask you to resubmit it" 2. "Could be vulnerable to malicious attacks" 3. "Didn't comply with the Windows Live Gallery policy" 4. "There was a problem when we tried to uninstall your submission" If you've seen others, please post them. "There was a problem and we need to ask you to resubmit it" is generally regarded to be bugs in the code. "Could be vulnerable to malicious attacks" needs clearly defining by MS, as a Gadget that embeds HTML from a trusted source may well still be rejected for this reason. It still gives me a laugh to think that several Gadgets that shipped with Vista would fail submission to Live for this reason. "Didn't comply with the Windows Live Gallery policy" I'm guessing is the legal policy I've quoted above. "There was a problem when we tried to uninstall your submission" is due to the use of .NET DLL's in Gadgets. .NET will not free a DLL until Sidebar is unloaded because .NET requires the parent process to close. The only way around this one is to recode your DLL into unmanaged code, or keep submitting until it's approved.     - Checking programatically if POCKET PC is cradled ?? Hi, As far as I am aware this registry key is only supported on Windows Mobile 5.0 or above devices. I am assuming the reason why the original poster is getting an ""WindowsMobile.Utilities" not found exception, is because they are using a pre Windows Mobile 2005 device, and hence this registry key will not be present.     - MouseDown like event in Windows Mobile 5.0 for Poket PC (This is a re-post -- I wanted to move it to the end of this thread by deleting my first attempt. My apologies if this shows up as a double post.) I saw this thread and thought it was appropriate for a similar question; please let me know if I should put my question elsewhere. I'm trying to select the data in a textbox when the textbox gets focus, by doing a SelectAll() in the GotFocus event. When I step through in debug mode, the text is selected and highlighted, but then the text is deselected and the cursor appears where I tapped in the textbox. So, the GotFocus event occurs before whatever action occurs that I would trap with the Click or MouseDown events in the desktop environment, but those events are not supported in NETcf (they're "available", in that they show up in the events dropdown in the IDE, but they don't work). So, any ideas on how to show the data in a textbox as selected when the textbox gets focus I get the feeling that I have to do some native code to accomplish this, but I am not very advanced in this area.     - How do you diagnose a TypeLoadException with no additional details. I had similar problems when I started using corelab mysql connection thing. I never got to the route of the problem but I think somehow in the compilation process some glitch caused my program to reference a .net libary instead of a .net cf libary. The problem was sorted out by downloading a corelab update and I suspect possibly changing the structure of my program slightly. If it is the same problem I have it wouldn't even recognise a msgbox command. I suppose maybee creating a new project and adding items from the proper project untill you hit the error would do it.. Does this "support" already included in 3.5B2 or planned for final release only VS2008 can create web-reference for my simple WCF service, but any attempt to call any method are ended with "timed out". Hi everyone!!!

I have a .NET application that is working just fine with SQL Mobile, Synchronization is working and I thought everything was OK but....

In most iPAQs looks fine, but some of my users have hx4700 model. In this case for all this users, when application starts, it shows only in the firts quarter of the screen, so with all the components appear one on top of the other.

Does anyone know why this happen How could i fix it
