Hi all,

I had tried to generate a "tiny kernel" platform.

The device emulator can not run all remote tools if I just build a tiny kernel.

Is that ture that the "tiny kernel" can not use all the remote tools and CETK

Thanks in advance,

James.

Hi all,
I had tried to generate a "tiny kernel" in CE6.0.
After that, I can not run CETK by using device emulator.
The error msg is: "Platform manager was unable to connect to the device. Please check..."

I think the tiny kernel may lose some component that is need to do connection for CETK.
Is that right

Thanks.

Hi James

The emulator has already had a operation system, how to use tiny kernel Could you explain it in detail

Since my target board is not ready so I use emulator instead.
I want to know is: if I just has a tiny kernel, can I use the remote tools and CETK
The license fee of a tiny kernel is cheapest. But, the remote tools and CETK are also necessary.
I don't know if I can use remote tools and CETK if I just have a tiny kernel.

Yes,it can run surely....but I thnk u have tried as a local user.

If u want to run through emulator,u should have admin rights,So try to login as administrator or ask for admin rights and thn try to run it.

Otherwise,

First, attach ur device and Launch Windows CE Test Kit From Tools menu.

After that through Target-->Run Programs-->Run Clientside.exe

My problem is:

If I only sysgen a tiny kernel, I can not run CETK (connect to kitl strap error).

If I sysgen a custom device with "shell.exe" and "standard_shell" components, I can run CETK very well.

Is this mean a "tiny kernel" can not run CETK

If so, how can I ship our product with only a tiny kernel

My cumsomer may check my design with CETK.

The CETK components do require a set of OS components If these components are not part of your 'tiny kernel' OS design the CETK will not run. So the answer to your first question is yes.

In my understanding a 'Tiny Kernel' OS includes just the kernel and the OAL - nothing else. I assume your product uses more than that.

If you want your customer to be able to use CETK for verifiation tests - the only option you have is to include the required components to the OS design. Check the documentation (here) for details which components to include.
