Hi,

I am developing smart device applications by using CF1.0. I have a doubt. The question is "How to add my CAB file into ROM Why i am asking is if we make a hard reset the device, our installed applications will also be removed only default CABs will be installed. So I want to add my CAB file into ROM. Is there any software for adding my CAB into ROM Please send your suggestions or links.

Thanx,

Only device manufacturer (OEM) can add files to ROM. That is done via Platform Builder while ROM image is created.

Judging by your question you¡¯re not device OEM which means there¡¯s no way for you to add files to ROM.

Some devices have persistent storage and might install CAB files automatically upon reset.

Check your device manual to see if that is available. Another alternative is to use storage card to store CABs.

Speak with the mobile operator or device manufacture. They might be able to produce you an updated image or details around how to include into the extended rom which runs following a hardreset.

Hi,

Thanx for your reply. I accept your comments. Is there any other solutions to solve this for example I copied the .exe file in the storage card/My Documents folder. Suppose the device met hard reset, Is not deleted that .exe file during the hard set My question is if that .exe file is not deleted from the Storage Card/My Documents folder, then "How to automatically invoke that .exe file from Storage Card when the device boot . Please send your solutions or links.

Thanx,

Yes, this exe file won't be deleted from the storage card. As to invoking it, see this and this. Some devices (e.g. from Symbol) might offer more, see device manual for details. < xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
