Opening a vb6 project with VS2005 the Upgade Wizard creates new
upgarded files in a folder, say, Project1.NET
If l want to make a WM5 PPC application out of them , how do l go
about it .
After running VS2005 , what are the steps to take .

Thanks in advance for replies

1. Upgrade your VB6 application to the desktop one.

2. Create new device project and add all source file from upgraded desktop project to it.

3. Correct all forms to match device size and available controls.

4. Fix all errors so you can compile, replace or remove missing functionality as needed.

5. Deploy and debug your project as needed.

6. Congratulations, you're done.

Process might take from few hours to few months depending on project complexity and your experience level.

Steps 2 through 6 are generic porting process, you can port anything to anything else this way.

On upgrading a simple project from VB6 , consisting of two forms the size of
|the device each with a picturebox and a button (clicking the button "shows"
the other form) a folder was created Project1.NET and within it 4 folders and
13 files . Which of those one should add to the new device project

From the way you describe the proccess l have been discouraged since what
to do is rather simple and of course it's not worth learning a whole new language
for just a couple of lines of code .

BTW is there a site where one could find the equivalent of VB6 code in .NET

say for example how does one write :

Webbrowser1.Navigate App.Path & "\index.html"

That I would not know, it's your project and it's up to you to determine which files and folders are relevant.

Porting might be tricky and complicated and you have to know both source (to a lesser degree) and target languages and OS/platform. If you don't - you won't be able to accomplish the task. In case of simple projects it might be easer to abandon legacy code an do it from scratch.

I'm sure such site exists and I'm sure you'll find it using your favorite search engine in no time.

This line is a good example of functionality youd need to replace with some equivalent. Youd need to use reflections to obtain current application path, combine it with file name and set correct property of the WebBrowser control to that path.
