Hi All,

For some reason the Label control is not word-wrapping for Japanese text. If I put English text in, it wraps fine, so why does it have a problem with Japanese text They're just characters, right   How and why does it differentiate   Is there any work-arounds

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Rael

Hi All,

I have tried replacing my label with a web browser control, and it's STILL not wrapping Japanese text. Wraps English text fine, but when you have Japanese text, instead of wrapping, it puts it all on one line and puts a scrollbar at the bottom of the control.

How can I get this to wrap I assume I should have more control in the web browser control

Thanks
Rael

Are you using device localized in Japanese AFAIK wrapping is done by the OS (that is, NETCF has nothing to do with it) using particular rules which are only available for supported code page. If your text is in other code page - no wrapping would be done as there are no rules on how to do it.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It is not a Japanese device. I have loaded the Japanese font onto an English device (it's for a language training program). Can you explain what you mean by 'code page' Is this something else I need to load onto the device

Thanks
Rael

Besides font there's also extensive culture specific information which specifies thing like currency, calendar, number formats, sorting rules, line wrapping rules and so on - that's what I meant. More appropriate term would be ¡°locale¡± which can be specified by LCID. For example, 1033 means US/English, 1041 is Japanese.

Most ENU devices have this information for European languages/countries, but not for Asian or mid-eastern languages/counties. You¡¯d need to use localized device for these. You might be able to purchase and install 3rd party localization packages but I¡¯ve seen issues with these.

That's good info, thank you. Do you know where I can find more information on this Is this held in configuration files Can a device be setup with multiple locale settings

Thanks
