Hi folks,

I'm doing a web project and when I'm in a aspx source code view and press the button to change to the Design view the IDE takes about 2 min and 30 sec to do the change!

Also, after I change to Design view, every change I do to a web control in hte properties page, like simply change a CssClass attribute or a visible attribute, takes about 20 sec...the IDE freezes while in this period.

What can I do to optimize this It's seriously affecting my work...

Thansk for any tip

Bruce

Wanted to add that its not just ASP stuff doing this. I"m programming a smart client app and its terrible. In fact you are lucky that yours is only freezing for a few seconds. Mine actually deletes fields and in some cases won't display the form again unless I delete things off and then put them back on. This is the buggiest IDE I've ever used and I'm amazed there are not more people complaining. Hopefully there is something the two of us are doing wrong causing the problem.... :-)

Actually I've found a few things that have greatly changed the speed of my environment that I wanted to tell you about.

1) I uninstalled Component One and DevExpress and this made a world of difference.

2)Turn off the Navigation Bar (Tools\Options\Text Editor\All Languages\General or Tools\Options\Text Editor\C#\General).

3) Turn off Word Wrap (same two options panels).

4) Turn off Track changes (Tools\Options\Text Editor\General). There is anecdotal evidence that this is helpful when editing Windows Forms.

Like I said, my environment is much much faster now and my forms even paint almost instantly... Not sure which one is the issue but assume they are combined...

Good luck,
