Hi all, I'm having an issue with the C# express IDE in that it shuts itself down shortly after I open it. It was coming up and showing the start page which would have a message saying "There is no content available yet. Content will be downloaded once a connection to the internet is established." Which is weird, because I do have a connection established. But after showing that message briefly, the IDE closes.

I was able to avoid this in the short term by very quickly navigating to Tools >> Options >> Show All Settings >> Startup and disabling content download. However, any time I try to start a new project or anything the IDE still shuts down. It will also shutdown if I re-enable content downloading. Anyone have any ideas I'm really eager to get started on some XNA projects, but it's pretty much impossible with the IDE in this state! Crying

Hi Rhuno,

Do you see anything logged in the event logs Can you open Event viewer and under "Application", can you see any "Information" for "vcsexpress.exe" logged You can do this by selecting the information node and right clicking to select "Properties".

To open event viewer: right click My Computer >> Manage >> event Viewer.

Or (in XP) follow these steps:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, then click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. Or, open the MMC containing the Event Viewer snap-in.

In the console tree, click Event Viewer.

The Application, Security, and System logs are displayed in the Event Viewer window.
