In VS.NET 2005 how do I set it up so that each of my classes would create a different executable file I want to do this so that I can use one common settings file throughout all of the classes, but they can be executed seperately.

ie.
Class1 = class1.exe - Would insert new records into the database when clicked.
Class2 = class2.exe - Check all records in the database to see if they would match any saved queries.
Class3 = class3.exe - Purge old records from the database.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Russ

Not sure why you would want to do that with the example you have given. Do these classes have a protocol with each other Do they send and pass data around In other words are they loosely or tightly coupled

If they are not, simply create three projects and shift the code to a new project

Basically all of the executables will use the same custom DLL file, and all fall into the category of maintenance I want to do to my companies website. My motivation for this was so that all of the executables could use the same Settings.settings file for some configuration settings.

I don't know if this is possible however, since I haven't been able to find any information on it in searching around.

Alternatively, is there any way to view multiple solutions in the "Solution Explorer" That would help to keep me a bit more organized.

Thanks in advance,
Russ

You can have multiple projects in a solution, but not multiple solutions in a solution.

Can you tell me how I go about adding multiple projects to a solution

Thanks,

Russ

Under File in the Visual Studio, find "Add -> Project

One more question if you don't mind, is there any way to make it so that every time I open a solution, certain projects open with it

Thanks,

Russ

Assuming you added the projects to the solution

  1. In Solution Explorer, right click on Solution.
  2. Go to Properties
  3. You'll find your answer on that screen, it is pretty str8 forward

Thanks a lot, that is exactly what I needed.

To help organize, what you see not how it is built, one can right click on the solution folder, select Add and then New Solution Folder. From there you could drag and drop projects into the folder for organizational purposes.
