For example, the way the event model works does exactly what you want, in a roundabout sort of way: someObj.SomeEvent += SomeHandler(yourMethodName); You're giving it the method to call. It has NO idea what that method is, and invokes it blindly. The compiler does check the method signature, but there are ways around that. So what is your real purpose in wanting blind method invokation There are ways to do this but the pattern sort of depends on how you'll use it. Here are the steps I would recommend that you use to diagnose the problem: Confirm you are running VS2005 SP1 with the Vista refresh Verify your help settings in Tools\Options -> Environment -> Help Online -> Try online first, then local (or Try local first, then online) Are you using external or integrated help (General) In general you won't get anything displayed initially as the list of potential sites will be displayed in a separte list. You would then be able to select a specific site. Meausering the time is also quit difficult, since the protocol is stateless. People can look at an internet page will there is no network traffic. Those packets are handed off to a manager that combines and coverts them for consumption by other layers in the application. If those bytes are meant as Xml, then they will have to be converted to ascii and loaded into an XmlDocument, there is no way around that. I suggest you have a multi-threaded app, where the thread monitoring the socket only pulls data off of the socket and places it raw onto a queue to be pulled by another thread, whose sole job it is to convert it to an appropriate format that can be consumed by the business layer of the application. Don't make the mistake of trying to do combination and reading of the port, otherwise one risks dropping packets. You seem to be using Interop for the Office thingie... do you: System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ReleaseComObject(interopObject) after your done using it You can also try to use some kind of "Instrumentation" and make your windows service log its action into a text file or database, that way it might also help you to track down if it always crashes doing some kind of action, and who knows, narrow your scope of the problem. Hitting ESC or typing a commit character will dismiss the list and commit the preselected item if any. I am aware of at least one problem where FireFox somehow hijacked my HTM files even though IE was set up as the default browser. I never did resolve that and eventually ended up uninstalling it. However you don't have to use the default browser. In the settings for the web application you can specify what program to use explicitly. Sort of annoying that you'll have to do this each time you start a new project but it is better than nothing. It is available under the Web tab in the project properties. You'll have to specify the IE program and the arguments to use but it'll work. Ultimately though you should probably run IE and tell it to become the default browser if that is what you want to use. You can always access the tables directly rather than providing objects to interact with them but this can lead to lots of problems, bugs and work. The OO route provides a single location for each table if something needs to change or a bug to be fixed.     - Serialize an array of delegates You can't really serialize the delegates. The delegates are nothing more than pointers to instance methods. When you serialized the objects out you would lose the connection back to the instance. Even if you serialized the instance data there would be no easy way to map the instance back to its delegate when deserializing. You can serialize the delegates if they were static methods but you'd still have to write the code yourself and I doubt that is what you want anyway. Remember reading in a post here sometime ago that VS2005 can read a config file containing format specification to override the handling of asterix's in the AssemblyVersion / AssemblyFileVersion attributes. Is this correct that you can make the compiler set e.g. date format instead of default

Thanks. This is interessting.. My actual problem is finding a way to put the svn revision number that the current build was based on in the assmeblyversion or assemblyfileversion, but maybe easier to make the buildscript write that to a text file... PS. We are using Finalbuilder.
