I have been scouring the web for the better part of 2 hours now and cannot for the life of me find the answer to this question:

Where do I find the System.Windows.dll

I am looking for the System.Windows.Media namespce, which seems to be in that dll. I see the dll referenced in a lot of places but no explanation on where it might be located.

Please help!

This seems only to be available in .Net v3. It's used for Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) drawing.

It looks like it spans a number of dlls. Maybe these are automatically added as references if you use WPF, but for specific features you should be able to find the dll listed in the individual class pages linked from here:

Wow! I am having the same trouble. I have installed Net Framework 3.0, and the Windows SDK for Vista on my Windows XP system with Visual Studio 2005. Now I just searched for the System.Windows.dll and also presentationcore.dll, and it comes up empty-handed. What in the world am I missing. I am interested in utilizing the following namespaces:

System.Windows.Media

System.Windows.Media.Imaging

Any suggestions. This seems very cryptic, is it all just too 'new' to me

OK, to answer my own question...

There seems to be two things neccesary to develop with the new Windows.Media classes. First install the .NET Framework 3.0 (which coincides with your Framework 2.0), and then install Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for .NET Framework 3.0 (WCF & WPF). Since this is the November 2006 CTP, and it seems to be the last version being released until the next release of Visual Studio comes out, it is pre-release code. The 'Extensions' have the Presentation DLLs which is where the Windows Media etc. classes are found. Thus, they are not in the Framework at all, but are delivered with your product to the user. There is also some use to install the new Windows SDK which has samples and documentation for local use. Plus, you can install the WWF extensions if you want them as well. All these are found at the Microsoft site. Hope this helps someone.

I have installed .Net Framework v3.0 and Visual Studio 2005 Extensions but still no luck. I cannot find complete System.Windows. I want to use the System.Windows.Controls and some other classes in this namespace. Plz help!!!

Americanadian

I've been trying to find System.Windows.dll and UIAutomation.dll.

I need to use the System.Windows.Automation namespace, and I have tried installing the .NET Framework 3.0, the Windows SDK and the Extensions. Nothing has given me any results, and it is virtually impossible to find anything on the web.

Any ideas If someone could write me at theamericanadian@yahoo.ca, that would be fantastic.
