Hello:

My Question is how and where does visual studio save things like changing IDE keyboard shortcut keys Or for that matter other things like rememberring how the IDE was layed out before the application was closed Which macros to load from where Build dependency and basic build configuration setting Where is this stuff stored if not in some kind of build script

Some guidance as to where to find this information and anything else would be greatly appreciated.

Most of those things are stored in various different places. The project-specific information is in the project file (*.csproj). Why do you want to know about the other information. Rather than telling you where it is, maybe someone can help you with what you want to do with it.

I would like to write something that updates these files, or at least can generate some report as to what were all the customizations that I applied to my visual studio. If I should have to rebuild my VS, or if I need to work on someone else's machine then I could just run a script that backs up their files, and installs/uses my files, then reverts to their system afterward.

I would like to do something like that.

The project-specific settings will be stored in the csproj file. See Tools\Import and Export Settings for a way to export/backup your settings to import on another machine or restore. In the Import and Export Settings Wizard you can specify/view what will be exported...
